Teaching Art to Children
Nurturing joy, creativity, and confidence-building through visual expression is the overarching theme in Anne’s work with children.
For over three decades, first at Avenue Road Arts School in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and then at The Pinecroft School in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, Anne has created dynamic learning environments that support the natural expressiveness of children, so they see that they are artists in their own right.
As one parent states, “Anne is truly talented in bringing excitement for art to her kids and I think she “teaches” art in the truest sense.”
The Importance of Imagination and Art in Education and Life
Today many children grapple with the distracting intensity of the world, with short attention spans, and even suffer the tyranny of perfectionism. As an art teacher, I believe art is one of the most important tools we can use to slow down, redirecting attention to activities that support what is happening within, unencumbered by judgment.
Journey Through the Rainbow World
Journey through the Rainbow World is an immersive one-week program that provides the opportunity for children to engage in and explore meaningful connections between art and design through the diverse colors of the rainbow. Children build creative skills through hands-on making, design thinking, connections to the natural world, and food.
