Endangered Species

There are so many species that are classified as critically endangered, endangered, and vulnerable to extinction. The earth requires us to reflect on this reality, so I wanted to support our children to be in touch with this. It's hard to imagine extinction, so I collected several images of species listed on the World Wildlife Fund website (Worldwildlife.org) (Amur and Snow Leopard, Black Rhino, Bornean Orangutan, Cross River Gorilla, Bornean Elephant, Whale Shark, to name a few) allowing each child an opportunity to select one that they wanted to call into visibility. Through careful pastel work and then with clay, they brought their affection forward though an attentive art making process. I think you’ll agree that these works are captivating. They’ve granted these animals elevated status. Worthy of honor, these creatures now take up space in our vision, with strength and power.
