Dr. Anne West is an award-winning educator and author of Mapping the Intelligence of Artistic Work. For over 30 years her compassionate mentorship has helped many artists, young and old, map the thresholds of meaning in their work and practice. She is finely tuned to look, listen, and respond to work and ideas.
A senior critic in the Division of Architecture + Design, Rhode Island School of Design, Anne frequently conducts in-person and online writing workshops at other colleges and universities, whether for a group of students or as programming with faculty. Her writing services are also available for individual artists, designers, and arts collectives.
Mapping the Intelligence of Artistic Work
A book of intentional writing prompts: How do you chart and evolve your own map? It’s a matter of interconnections.
“There is a cohort of students out here all with their own copies of Mapping the Intelligence of Artistic Work engaging with Anne’s prompts regularly. They have responded with enthusiasm to the opportunity to reflect, to write, and to map – I call it the “Anne West effect” – and it is so wonderful to see the evolution facilitated by Anne’s scholarship.”
